Dr. Hynes did not take a traditional path to dentistry. After graduating from Cornell University with a degree in Animal Science and minors in Nutrition and Global Health, she worked as a research and development scientist in biopharmaceuticals. She spent most of her time in the lab, focusing on vaccine development. It was there she began to realize that she craved a position in healthcare with a more direct, patient-based impact. She started taking classes after work on week nights and applied to dental school.
Dr. Hynes completed her DMD training at Temple Universitys Kornberg School of Dentistry. There, she served as Vice President of the local American Student Dental Association and as a Contributing Editor for the organization at a national level. She was Treasurer and volunteer with the schools mission trip to Haiti, providing emergent dental care to remote villages.
Dr. Hynes has completed additional training to be certified for Invisalign, implant placement, and oral conscious sedation. It is important to her to continue learning new techniques and technologies to improve patient comfort and facilitate healthy, beautiful smiles.

Preventive dental care is important throughout your life, no matter your age. By practicing good oral hygiene at home and scheduling regular checkups with your dentist, you can help keep your smile bright and healthy for many years to come. Here are a few simple ways that you can prevent the build-up of plaque and cavities
For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. If youre self-conscious about your smile, correcting your concerns with braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.
Endodontics deals with the pulp, or the inside of the tooth and the root. If youve ever heard of someone talk about getting a root canal, thats endodontics. While root canals get a bad rap from people, they are helpful in removing and preventing painful infections in a tooth.
Many problems that plague us as adults can be headed off in our early years which is why pediatric dentistry is so important. We provide oral health care for young people the same as we do adults, but with particular attention paid to the issues of younger patients so that they can have a lifetime of pain-free smiles and eating.
Preventative care means helping people get the hang of regular brushing and flossing as well as regular trips to the dentist. We work in our schools and community to help get the word out so we can help prevent disease and decay.
Whether we like it or not, sometimes we have problems that require a surgeons touch. Wisdom teeth get removed, grafts into the jaw bone are made, and implants are installed in order to improve function and aesthetics.
When most people think of orthodontics they think of braces. This is true, but did you know there are a lot of options in orthodontia? We try to correct the irregularities of your teeth, bite, and even your jaw with braces, Invisalign, or other options.
Totally not what I was expecting! The experience I had at Capital Dental Associates was amazing. Honestly, I didnt expect it to be so smooth! Who would have thought a trip to the dentist could be like this! Glad to finally have found my dental home!
I was glad to see they cared.I used to hate going to the dentist. It felt like my old dentist just didnt care about anything but getting me in and out of the chair. Its not like that here. I was so glad to see that they cared about me.
Insurance coverage varies depending on your plan and treatment. In most cases, you can contact your insurance provider to learn about what is covered or not covered. If you are still uncertain, give us a call at (202) 621-8446 and we can help you find out your coverage.
Some of our patients choose to pay in full for their treatment and can receive a small discount. However, most patients choose to finance their dentist oral treatment over the course of several months or even years.
