Judith Penski, DDS, began her career as a professional dancer in New York City. After earning her masters degree in dance from NYU, she found herself taking an emergency trip to the dentist. Intrigued by the work her dentist performed, Dr. Penski moved to Washington, DC to attend Georgetown Universitys School of Dentistry. She graduated in 1983 and started this practice. Dr. Penski later met Dr. Margaret Irvin, and they became partners in 1993.
Dr. Penski is a member of the District of Columbia Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the Greater Washington Academy of Women Dentists. One aspect of her work that she particularly appreciates is the nonverbal communication she engages in with her patients: She draws on her dance experience to help her connect without using words.
While growing up in Washington, DC, Margaret Irvin, DDS was passionate about science and art. She studied zoology at George Washington University, and later decidedto pursue a career in dentistry, which wouldallowher to balance cutting-edge technology with the art of reconstructing smiles.
Dr. Irvin is a member of the District of Columbia Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the Greater Washington Academy of Woman Dentists, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. She particularly values the opportunity to work with all age groups and families, and treating their specific needs. She enjoys connecting with patients in a nurturing and humorous way.
Dr. Irvin is married to her wonderful husband Adam Levy, and has two daughters Melissa and Micaela. In her spare time, she likes gardening, cooking, photography, artistic projects, and being with family and friends.
Dr. Donna Afshar received her bachelors degree in biology in 2004 from the University of Southern California. Shemoved to Boston to study dentistry at Boston University and graduated magna cum laude in 2009. After completing a one-year general practice residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, Dr. Afshar joined a private practice in Queens. In 2012, she moved to Maryland and has been practicing in thisarea since then.
Dr. Afshar is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, theMaryland Dental Association, the Greater Washington Academy of Women Dentists, and the Greater Washington Academy of Dentistry.
Dr. Peter Farzin received his dental degree in 1996 from New York University. He continued his postdoctoral training at NYU, and completed a specialty in periodontics in 1999. Dr. Farzin specializes in comprehensive periodontal treatment, including implant placement, connective tissue grafting, and cosmetic root coverage procedures.
Dr. Farzin has participated in a number of national clinical investigations that pertainto periodontal plastic surgery. His most recent endeavor, in combination with Osteohealth Company, involvedconducting technique-sensitive bone grafting surgeries using Geistlich Bio-Oss and Bio-Gide bone regeneration materials. The video of Dr. Farzin performing these surgical procedures is now used by Osteohealth as a training tool for other clinicians.
