Welcome to Howard University Health Sciences and thank you for visiting our Web site. We hope that it provides the information that you are seeking and want to hear from you if you have suggestions about how we can make it even more useful to you.
As you may know, Howard University Health Sciences includes Howard University Hospital, our Faculty Practice Plan, the Louis B. Stokes Health Sciences Library, and our Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Health, as well as several specialty institutes and centers. In these historic and groundbreaking institutions, we conduct the research, teaching, and clinical care that seek to eliminate health disparities and provide service to the most vulnerable among us.
We have spent much of the last year in a strategic planning process. That process was highly inclusive, with hundreds of faculty, staff, students, and other interested persons contributing their wisdom and insights. It resulted in a refreshed sense of what we do and who we are, a vision of the future we want to create, and a strategy for how we will get there.
It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with such a fine team of professionals as Howard University Health Sciences continues on our exciting journey. We hope that you will share that journey with us in some way.

The College of Dentistry at Howard University was established in 1881. It is the fifth oldest dental school in the United States. As a teaching and patient care institution, the College has trained thousands of highly skilled dental professionals to serve their communities, particularly the under served.
Our graduates are currently serving communities in 40 states and 53 foreign countries. Our more than 100 faculty members constitute one of the best trained dental faculties in the world, thus making our institution the Capstone for transforming competent students into leaders for America and the world.
Our mission includes the philosophy that education, research and service are inseparable constituents of a modern dental education. The College's primary goal is to remain a national resource for dental leaders and a comprehensive education and research institution which attracts highly motivated and academically accomplished students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
