Dr. Humam Alathari Dr. Alathari got his dental training from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dental Medicine and graduated in 2005. Before dental school, Dr. Alathari did four full years of medical and surgical training from accredited medical schools overseas. Since graduation, Dr. Alathari has continued his education by attending hundreds of advanced courses in different aspects of dentistry. Dr. Alathari believes that advanced medical technology should be utilized in dental medicine to improve medical diagnosis and treatment planning, together with the enhancement of patient experience and procedure outcomes. He proudly practices fully advanced digital dentistry by utilizing the latest techniques in cone beam 3D imaging, CAD/CAM digital scanning, complete in-office digital designing, and milling of dental prostheses utilizing high-end dental materials that have both superior durability and strength. Dr. Alathari has been utilizing digital imaging with CAD/CAM CEREC technology since 2009. He uses digital treatment planning software for single and multiple dental implants to minimize errors and post-op discomfort. Dr. Alathari is a clear aligner provider for both Invisalign and SureSmile. He has been delivering beautiful smiles since 2008.

To further enhance his skills, Dr. Alathari received dental training in neuromuscular dentistry from the most prestigious neuromuscular institute in the United States, the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental study (LVI). His LVI experience provided Dr. Alathari further training in aesthetic dentistry, smile makeovers and full-mouth reconstructions. Dr. Alatharis training in occlusion dentistry and implant dentistry allows him to plan treatments and perform full-mouth rehabilitations with implant-supported dental procedures, including implant-supported hybrid dentures through his medical training. Dr. Alathari is exceptionally skilled at reviewing the medical history of a patient, diagnosing oral health conditions and planning the course of action that is most appropriate for addressing these conditions.

Since 2005, Dr. Alathari has been providing dental care for his patients in Virginia and Washington, D.C. He is the founder and current owner of both GT Dental Aesthetic, in Georgetown, and Potomac Dental Care, in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Dr. Alathari lives with his wife, son and daughter in Mclean, Virginia. In his free time, he likes to do outdoor activities with his family. His hobbies are soccer and swimming, and he also loves traveling.

Dr. Kianoush Alem has over 40 years of experience in restorative dentistry and prosthodontics. Receiving her masters degree in 1977 from the University of Michigan for restorative dentistry occlusion, she also has advanced training in prosthodontics, implants, cosmetic dentistry, computerized dentistry and treatment of TMJ dysfunction syndrome.

Dr. Alem was a clinical instructor and assistant professor in Iran and the United States. She has also given presentations in Iran, Canada and the United States. She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at the National University of Iran. She is currently an active member of the American Dental Association and the District of Columbia Dental Society. She was an active member for many years with the Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap Organization and Zonta Club of Virginia.

Awarded with a certificate of appreciation and contribution as a committee member of the District of Columbia Dental Society, outstanding contribution in ADA and FDI Joint World Dental Congress, and appreciation for table clinics, outstanding contribution and active member with the Iranian Dental Association, Dr. Alem has gone above and beyond to be her very best.

Some of her many impressive lectures presented include, but are not limited to: The Principal of Occlusion Adjustments, Different Diagnosis in Patients with Diffuse Facial Pain, Emergencies in Patients with TMJ Pain Dysfunction Syndrome, Patients with Orofacial Pain, Determinates of Occlusion and The Principals of Occlusion Adjustments.

As the former founder of the Iranian American Dental Association, Dr. Alem was also a member of the IDA, Academic of General Dentistry, Greater Washington Women Dentist (GWWD) and a national member of the Library of Congress.

Dr. Alems hobbies outside of dentistry include playing bridge, swimming and (because she is very family oriented) spending time with her loved ones. She has a bedside manner that ensures that her patients feel at home in her care, and she takes pride in knowing that she has provided the same excellent quality of service to all her patients that she would expect for herself.

Dr. Sanaz Vahid, DDS, is a compassionate and highly trained periodontist with an extensive background in implant dentistry. A second-generation dentist, Dr. Vahid earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Maryland in 2014. After dental school, Dr. Vahid continued her training at the University of Pittsburgh, obtaining a certification in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) in 2015. Her passion for surgery, patient care and oral health ultimately led Dr. Vahid to complete a three-year residency in periodontics and implant surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 2018.

In addition to implant surgery, bone and gum grafting, sinus lifts, gum disease treatment and other traditional periodontal procedures, Dr. Vahid is qualified to perform lip repositioning surgery, buccal fat pad removal and dimpleplasty. Furthermore, she is one of only a handful of dentists in the D.C. Metropolitan Area trained in IV sedation to curb patient anxiety.

Dr. Vahid is the founder and president of Women of the World of Dentistry, an organization that educates and empowers every woman in the field of dentistry, from assistant to dentist. Other professional affiliations include membership of the American Board of Periodontology, American Dental Association, D.C. Dental Society, Maimonides Dental Society and Alpha Omega Dental Society. Dr. Vahid has also authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including studies on the relationship between polycystic ovary syndrome and periodontal disease, and sleep apnea and periodontal disease.
